National Assembly President Diosdado Cabello held a surprise meeting alongside Foreign Affairs Minister Delcy Rodriguez with high-ranking U.S. government officials in Haiti yesterday.
The meeting, which was brokered by Haitian President Michell Martelly, involved U.S. Department of State officials Thomas Shannon and Thomas Adams, and U.S. Ambassador to Haiti Pamela White. Although no details regarding the topics discussed during the meeting have emerged, the encounter marks the highest-level meeting between the two nations in months.

Ceballos Being Held in El Helicoide
Daniel Ceballos has been transferred from a prison in Guarico state to the main headquarters of the Servicio Bolivariano de Inteligencia Nacional [SEBIN], the country’s secret police, in Caracas. His wife, San Cristobal mayor Patricia de Ceballos, is currently in El Helicoide attempting to visit her husband.
Patricia tweeted that the couple’s children have been unable to see their father in a month and a half.
Before being held in Guarico’s 26 de Julio prison in San Juan de los Morros, Ceballos spent over a year in the Ramo Verde military prison just south of Caracas.
