I am in the process of moving in to a new apartment. The trial of Leopoldo Lopez and the students arrested in connection with the violent events of February 12 finally has a a start date: July 23.

Lopez, along with Marco Coello, Christian Holdack, Demián Martin and Ángel González have all been ordered to present themselves before a judge on the 23 of next month to face a host of criminal charges. Lopez is facing charges of arson, public instigation, property damages and associating for the purposes of committing a crime.

Lopez has been in solitary confinement at the Ramo Verde military prison since February 18. Coello and Holdak have been incarcerated since February 12.

Electrical Workers Protest in Three States

Workers from CORPOLEC, the state-owned power company, staged protests in at least three states today to draw attention to what they consider to be incompetence at the government level when it comes to handling the country’s electrical system.

The protesters blocked a road in Caracas, and as of right now it appears that similar protests took place in Zulia and Anzoategui states.
