Someone forgot to tell the demonstrators in Chacao, Caracas that the protests that engulfed the country over the past two months have subsided significantly over the last couple of days. Today, there were some dramatic confrontations between security forces and demonstrators there.

And an interesting bit of trivia: the number of Venezuelans granted asylum in the United States has increased 1,156% over the past 11 years. According to U.S. government numbers, while there were 95 asylum requested granted in 2002 to Venezuelans, 1,099 were granted in 2012. Some interesting figures from the same report:
- There are 259,000 Venezuelans in the U.S.
- Their average age is 32.
- Their average family income if $50,000.
- 69% were born outside of the United States.
- 15% live in poverty.
- 41% live in Florida.
